About Pet Procedure Cost Guide

Pet Procedure Cost Guide exists for one narrow job: telling you what common veterinary procedures actually cost in the United States — from published data, with the source named under every figure — before you are standing at a clinic counter with a quote in your hand.

Editorial policy & methodology: how the figures are sourced and verified

Veterinary care has no official fee schedule — no court-style table of charges set by an authority. Prices are market prices, set clinic by clinic. So every figure on this site comes from a named published source that we opened and read during the October 2026 research pass, in this order of preference:

  1. Published cost studies first — the 2025 Synchrony/ASQ360° Average Procedural Cost Study published by CareCredit, NAPHIA's State of the Industry premium reports, the ASPCA's cost charts, and Synchrony Bank's Lifetime of Care study.
  2. Published price lists and fee documents second — national-chain and low-cost clinic price lists (Banfield, NoCo, Shore, Joybound, Vetco), municipal clinic prices, and university veterinary hospital documents (University of Tennessee, Texas A&M, NC State).
  3. Insurer and guide publications third — Pawlicy, Spot, MetLife, Fetch, Embrace, PetMD and similar published cost guides, each attributed by name wherever its figures appear.

Four working rules follow from that method. Ranges are never merged across sources — where two sources publish different figures (routine visits appear at $56–$129 and at $70–$174 from two CareCredit vintages), both are printed with their sources, not averaged into a number nobody published. Every figure is a range or a labelled average, never false precision. Where no published source supports a figure, we omit it or mark it unverified — cat-specific imaging ranges, a senior blood-panel price, partitioned cremation pricing, and the ASPCA Alliance's own spay/neuter fees (seen only in search results, never verified on the official page) are all handled exactly that way. Inclusions are stated — a surgery price that bundles diagnostics is labelled as bundling them; one that excludes them is labelled too.

What this site is not

Pet Procedure Cost Guide is an educational publisher, not a veterinary practice. Nothing here is veterinary advice: we do not diagnose, prognose, recommend for or against any procedure, or rank clinics or insurers as endorsements. Published price lists are reproduced as data, not recommendations. Prices change and vary by clinic, city, and patient: confirm every figure with your own veterinarian's estimate, and direct every question about your pet's health to them.

How we make money (planned)

This site is built to be supported by advertising. No clinic, insurer, or financing company pays for placement in its figures, and no figure on the site was supplied by the company it describes without the source being named. One disclosure we make plainly: CareCredit/Synchrony publishes much of the best cost data in this field and is also a pet-care financing company; its data is used here as a named source, never as an endorsement, and competing sources are printed alongside it wherever they exist.

The rest of the network

This site is part of a small portfolio of cost-guide sites built on the same principle — researched figures, named sources, free calculators — including court filing costs at courtcostguide.com, small claims costs at smallclaimscost.com, business formation fees at llccostguide.com, and home project costs at averagehomecost.com.

Corrections

Published prices change and clinic lists are updated without notice. If a figure here no longer matches its named source, tell us through the contact page with the source's link, and we will update the page and note the change.
