How much does pet cremation cost?
CareCredit's published ranges (September 2023) are weight-based and split by the one choice that defines the service: communal cremation, where ashes are not returned, runs $45–$200; private cremation, where your pet's ashes are returned to you, runs $100–$450. The full table is reproduced below exactly as published.
| Pet weight | Communal (no ashes returned) | Private (ashes returned) |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 30 lb | $45–$75 | $100–$175 |
| 31–50 lb | $50–$80 | $150–$250 |
| 51–70 lb | $50–$100 | $200–$300 |
| 71–90 lb | $100–$150 | $250–$375 |
| Over 90 lb | $150–$200 | $350–$450 |
Reading the table
Weight is the pricing unit: a private cremation for a pet over 90 lb ($350–$450) costs roughly three times the same service under 30 lb ($100–$175). CareCredit/Synchrony's later 2025 study publishes species-level private cremation ranges that sit inside the same envelope — $206–$473 for dogs, $142–$326 for cats — useful as a cross-check against a quote. Two honest notes: partitioned (individual) cremation — a middle tier some providers offer — carries no CareCredit figure, and we found no published range for it, so none is printed; and basic urns are published as starting at about $50 (CareCredit), with keepsakes and upgraded urns priced by the provider.
Euthanasia and aftercare are usually decided together — the euthanasia guide has the published clinic and at-home figures.
